Anger In Church And State

So emotionalEverybody's angry today! Former Vice President Dick Cheney is angry with George W. Bush for turning into a pussy during the end of his second term. The Catholic Church is angry with Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi for his arrogant and mortifying behavior with hookers and underage girls. Matt Drudge is PISSED about faltering retail sales. And Karl Rove is angry with Barack Obama for "exaggerations, misdirection and efforts to divide Americans", or, as Karl likes to refer to it, "stealing my bit." People, people... where is the love?

"Setting the record straight is one thing. Collecting information on critics in this vaguely threatening manner is quite another."

And exactly when did Karl Rove become such an authority on vague threats and Hooverism?

What Mr. Rove meant to say was, "exaggerations, miscegenation and efforts to divide Americans."

Boy oh boy that Cheney article! Where to begin? Would the "indulgences" he'd best be purchasing (they ain't BlackBerries) or suggestions of punishment along the lines of Libby's head in that meat grinder a better comment make? Or does the mere fact that Cheney has become a Starbucks decaf latte drinking soccer grandpa whose contact with the scooters of the world will very soon be limited to chauffeuring himself around his garage bunker in a Jazzy (it's a Power Chair) speak for itself?

So Yeah, so here's who isn't angry today: Me. Got the biggest damn grin on my face.

Right on! I woke up already sad at the ridicule I was sure I would find here and elsewhere of the Styles piece about potbellies. Not unwarranted, but I believe in sympathy for Guy Trebay. I was ready to dive into the Google News Archive of the Voice to teach the young ones what he used to do before he was trapped by the Times.... but its searchability is nil.
