Yay, Birthers! (Or Wait: Is This the Beginning of the End?)

MONSTER CHENEYRight now, it seems basically 50/50 whether we will get: Option 1. A Republican party hijacked by the Birthers, who are crazy people, which will seriously damage that party, or; Option 2. A fascist American state ruled by hysterical morons in 2012 who will (for starters!) regulate womens' ability to reproduce and who think Obama is a Kenyan citizen. It proves to be entertaining either way, if slightly scary in the latter case, but as if that will matter to me, because I will be living in Oaxaca, where I can have all the abortions and gay sex I want. Last night saw Liz Cheney ("the most famous former principal deputy assistant secretary of state for near eastern affairs in American history") make a very Palin-esque appeal to the Birther constituency. She follows in the path of her lesbian lover, the anti-American and extraordinarily talented race-bater Lou Dobbs, who goes even further soliciting the Birthers. Honestly, whether this ends with an armed coup and a fascist state or a lot of embarrassed people who promise to finally become literate, I don't think I really care! THESE ARE EXTRAORDINARY TIMES to be alive! Historians may look back in terror and wonder!

Extraordinary times?

Half the country is not just illiterate, they have money and guns as well. A horrible combination.

The other half is educated, doesn't own any guns and are currently occupied with trying to enjoy their lives and make enough money to survive and not be afraid of everything different.

Actually a lot of the people with the guns don't have much money at all. And a lot of the educated people are rich. I see what you're trying to do though.

when they start running amok, you'll wish you had some guns too

formerly it takes a lot etc.

I think she's courting the birthers because they call into question the legitimacy of Obama's presidency. And if he ain't legitimate, you don't have to do what he says and in order to defend the Constitution you are beholden to remove him from office. This will provide a nice pretext for some sort of putsch after Cheney orchestrates his next terrorist attack on the US - this time, it will be such a big attack that few people will question the need to have a Cheney take over to protect us all.

Paranoid? Or a student of history? Time will tell.

The nice thing about the US is that there are guns enough for everyone. In fact there are so many guns that the US is gleefully sharing them with Canada and Mexico.
So the minute that this supposed "Cheney Pustch" takes place I expect the 60% that don't believe that Sarah Palin is the new messiah to revolt.

My contribution for the birther movement:

Hope it clears up some of the confusion.

Very nice! Although, the final text is a little difficult to make out in black. Maybe a colour change?

OK, is a "birther" someone who feels that all US presidents should be born in the US? What a retarded name for a demographic.

And to think, until now my biggest concern of the day was how many little 18% creamers I could put in my tea without having a cardiac event.

I think these people are maybe thinking that the part of the Constitution that says you have to be a natural-born citizen means that you have to have been born on US soil. There's some controversy over that clause and what, exactly, it means. I can follow that part of the argument, but then they lose me when they say Obama faked his birth certificate and therefore isn't the president and is a secret muslim who wants people to blow us all up.

Especially since he'd have had to go back in time to fake this birth certificate. Given that he's needed it for most of his life for things like, oh, say, registering for elementary school.

and I think all the "controversy" about that clause has to do with people like John McCain, who were born on US-owned soil outside of the United States (on an Army base abroad, I think Guam?).

At least we are a nation wealthy enough to indulge our stupidity.
