The Way We Die Now
It is admittedly still early in our Summer of Death, but I have to believe that when we look back at the sunny season of 2009 from the vantage point of twenty years on, this is how we'll see those more innocent times. Kudos to graphic artist Todd Grantham for so expertly capturing the zeitgeist.

Back when I was a kid, a celebrity wouldn't die until the previously deceased celebrity was mourned and buried. I beginning to worry that today's generation won't ever know the meaning of "slow news day".
Balk, not only might some of us know what Steve McNair looks like, we might also be surprised to learn that the Cowboys' D-Line coordinator is also a graphic artist.
Shhh, you're gonna skew Cho's idea of who reads the site.
I should like to see Michael Jackson with pancakes on his head.
fucking genius
I still haven't gotten over Walter Cronkite.
Or Bea Arthur.
But where's Goldblum?

This plus the 'Keep Calm & Carry On' post from yesterday will, I am certain, evoke Summer 2009 for me for many years to come.
Last Summer, it was Rihanna's 'Umbrella' that did it; this year is all sullen and intense in a way with which I am not entirely comfortable.
I miss "Umbrella."
