Sarah Palin Quotes, Misrepresents Walter Cronkite

Outgoing Alaska Governor Sarah Palin's Twitter feed once again contains a quotation of great wisdom, this time from news legend Walter Cronkite. Unfortunately, Palin not only misquotes the famous anchor, she completely distorts his meaning. (Sort of like her JFK interpretation.) The actual quote comes from a terrific interview Cronkite did with Ron Powers for Playboy in 1973.
I think that being liberal, in the true sense, is being nondoctrinaire, nondogmatic, noncomitted to a cause—but examining each case on its merits. Being left of center is another thing; it's a political position. I think most newspapermen by definition have to be liberal; if they're not liberal, by my definition of it, then they can hardly be good newspapermen.
Reads kind of differently with the full context, right? Maybe once she's got more free time, someone can show Sarah how to use the Google.

That's not the way it is.
She's quoting Nevada brothel owner, Bill Cronkite.
I'm sure she would have liked to use the whole quote but that darn Twitter only gives you 140 characters!
By "Liberal" they mean, as they want people to believe, someone who is soft in his policies abroad, who is against local government, and who is unconcerned with the taxpayer's dollar.

Stupid is as stupid does.

I don't think the context matters to Palin and her people. In fact, it probably makes the definition of liberal even more frightening to them.
To be "nondoctrinaire, nondogmatic, noncommitted to a cause" PLUS examining each issue on its own merits…well, those would be BAD, ELITE things. Not at all what real Merkins do.
Being a Palinite means never having to say "I'm sorry"…for thinking.
Aren't real merkins use to be-wig one's pubes? Though I never quite understood why one might need a pubic wig – until just now when I checked Wikipedia.

Yeah, what's up with the SarahPAC ads running on the side? You guys should start charging her more.
And Ann Coulter.
I guess Cronkite didn't know about the 140 character limit..?
I'm starting to wonder if Palin was the one who started that email that misattributes a bunch of one-liners to Stephen Wright.
What, is Palin slowly making her way along the Google search results for 'liberal' + 'media'?
On a more sombre note, can I just express how depressing it is that, for a particular demographic of uneducable *ahem* mouth-breathers, she has completely destroyed Cronkite's reputation as a journalist?
What does she represent that captures a particular hue of America's zeitgeist right now, which keeps giving her public airtime? (he asked, somewhat rhetorically).
The fact that Sarah Palin is twittering makes me respect Twitter less than I already do. Which I didn't think was possible.
…..and now he's dead! What did she do???
