The greatest thing about Janice Min quitting as head of Us is that she is doing lots of press! Here she explains everything there is to know about Us Weekly: "We broke that story at a time when most people had never heard of Jon and Kate. Now they wish they had never heard of Jon and Kate." How can I love someone who did that to America? I suppose one can appreciate mastery no matter how terrible the art form. Like there could be a really amazing mind-blowing painting of dogs playing poker, I think.

Your really amazing mind-blowing painting of dogs playing poker is relative music to these ears after the last few days of Balk on the arts beat. For the love of all that is holy, Choire, please wrest it back from him!
Now that Balk has discovered that free drinks are served at art openings, there's no turning back.

Was that a jokey nod to the earlier post about CT scans? FAIL and waaay too broad. Your "arts beat" implies that Balk's coverage of the plastic arts as a whole is somehow lacking--when in fact that review of In The Loop , for example, was not only a good read, but dead-on!
