Having recently compared the death of Michael Jackson to that of Jesus Christ, young Brooklyn rapper Lil' Mama has chosen a title for her forthcoming album. It will be called Voice of the Young People: I Am That. It's a sequel of sorts. Her first album, which came out last year, was called VYP: Voice of the Young People. (Guess she felt like Voice of the Young People: I Am Still That didn't roll of the tongue quite so nicely.) "It's gonna be amazing!" she said to hip-hop website Rap-Up.com. "There's gonna be a lot of surprises." Hmm.
Before we judge too harshly, though, let's remember that Lil Mama's debut single, "Lip Gloss," was pretty fantastic, and that her new titular addendum* has thematic precedent. Four years ago, actress/rocker Ashlee Simpson (so famous for her naming skills) called her second album I Am Me. There's simply no arguing that.
*(Also, please don't touch Lil Mama on her titular addendum, it's very sensitive.)

I blame David Cho and his SEO tricks for this post.
Dave Bry = (secretly) David Cho??
"Voice of the Young People: I Mean It"
Another song I only know from its presence on the most recent Girl Talk album.
