Here is HBO's Grey Gardens director Michael Sucsy on Facebook, this morning, after the movie was nominated for an insane 17 Emmy nominations. Holy smokes, I thought it would do well, but my word! Totally robbed: for dramatic series, Battlestar Galactica (also BSG's Mary McDonnell, unbelievably) and Friday Night Lights. Totally awesome nomination: John Slattery for Mad Men. He's not talking about Gossip Girl?
I thought the same thing. Excuse me while I flagellate myself.
Thirded. I've already handed in my hag card.
I thought Grey Gardens was a big garden of suck. Especially with Jeanne Tripplehorn arrived as Jackie O. My suspension of disbelief was strained already with Drew Barrymore slumming it in a role so obviously designed to certify her "acting" credentials, but when she climbed out of her car I just sighed and turned off the teevee.
he's absolutely right about BSG and FNL. I took guilty pleasure in watching last year's soapy season of House, but it's an insult that it's there when they aren't.
I enjoyed both of those shows as well. However, that finale disqualifies BSG from anything except for the Oops Award and the Best Show Thinly Disguised Religious Propaganda. Plus, if we give an Emmy to the Book of Mormon, it's really gonna piss of the Scientologist and then they'll take Will Smith away.
yeah. and hollywood has a pretty strict "anti-robot-neanderthal hybrid" stance; so that might explain the snub.
Why can't January Jones ever get any love?!
She can get some from me any time she wants.
She got a Golden Globe nom, so apparently foreign press people like her.
Aaron Paul got nominated for "Breaking Bad" and that is just awesome. He probably won't win, but at least somebody figured out how brilliantly he plays a pretty reprehensible character.
Who does Aaron Paul play - Walt Jr?
Jessie, Walt Sr's assistant meth cooker and all-around loser.
They nominated Jemaine but not Brett for best actor? And not Murray for best supporting? MADNESS!
Murray will not be Present.
Good on ya, Mike!
