Drinking Possibly Good For You Up To A Point

Still more Science: Having 8-14 alcoholic drinks a week (i.e., one or two a day) reduces your risk of dementia. Having fewer drinks shows no reduction of risk, and having more will shrink your brain. Now you know! (This week.)

Speaking of drinking, check out Clancy Martin's essay in the LRB about his struggle with alcoholism. It's pretty gripping reading, particularly if you're someone who might have some, uh, similar tendencies yourself.

Oh God. That Clancy Martin essay was REALLY GOOD. I am actually going to Digg this.

Also, I do have 8-14 drinks a week, relatively speaking. The thing is, I spend as much time out-and-about in one week that most people do in three weeks, so in the end the math works out for me.
