Disgruntled Intern Discovers How Internet Works

This is a photo of a photo on ClusterstockWe've all been there: "The first assignment the Clusterstock editor handed me was to cull through espn.com and a multitude of sports blogs to come up with the 10 worst franchises, in terms of payrolls and home-game attendance, for a multimedia slideshow. He also asked me to search for photos online to put over captions he would write. When I asked about the protocol for reusing published media, he told me not to worry about it, so long as the photos weren't from a traceable publication – like say, ESPN."

Somewhere in Texas a light bulb just went on above a trial lawyer's head.

I think there's one more thing about how the internet works that he'll be discovering soon.

The intern is playing us all. He got the job and quit, so he could write his "Outside" post. Dude is savvy and understands the Internet perfectly (i.e. How to write a hard-hitting linkbait).

Totally agree. He had his angle and stayed just long enough to play it through. I would believe that he reveres the print journalism world over the blogosphere more if he hadn't, uh, written this expose on his blog. Points to him for getting attention, though.
