Two Videos, Fat And Thin: "Perez" v. "Neda"

"AND FERGIE? YOU'RE FUGLY, BITCH"What we're all watching today! Two shocking videos about violence, both with bearing on the world economy and our global infrastructure-our very understanding of what it means to be human!
· "My first instinct is to say that I'm not saying that to make myself feel better than all the people who have watched the video, but after reading the comments on all the various different sites that have posted it, I can't help but wonder… Why would you watch it?"
· "Violence is never the answer. Ever. No matter what anyone says. Blood should never be drawn. Another person should never be hurt."

mjwilstein (#934)'s video is pretty entertaining as well:

I like "twitted"

How disturbing. You should have went with the Neda photo instead.

I will not click a link to Mario's blog. Kindly inform me of the content. Thanks.

M.L. got the crap beat out of him in Toronto. He believes it was and his security team. respectfully disagrees.
Tila Tequila and John Mayer have both weighed in via Twitter, underscoring that this is one of the most important stories of our time.

Also, Mario tweeted his minions from his phone to tell them to call the Toronto police.

And my job is boring.

riggssm (#760)

Thanks. I'm also in the "will not click a link" camp.

If someone gets attacked in TORONTO, they musta done something to deserve it. "Everything is so clean and bland… I'm home!" – Marge Simpson on Toronto

Perez Hilton: a pale, useless word.

I would love for this to be the end of online snarkiness for the sake of online snarkiness, which is so fucking tired and negative and sloppy. Karmic repercussions and all that. But I never underestimate the attraction human beings have towards gossip and low hanging comedic fruit over wit or real reporting or even smart commentary.

olmucky (#542)

Yeah, snark, that's why people die.

No. But it maims people sometimes.

It's all very snarky until somebody loses an eye.

FeyBoohoozer (#410)

…and someone invariably stubs their toe.

Someone call the Toronto cops, I'm pretty sure that guy stole Christmas!

"Nearly everyone who has seen the video and commented on it has either said, 'I can't sleep now' or 'I've had nightmares" or 'I can't stop crying.' It sounds horribly upsetting …"

She's talking about the Perez Hilton video, right? I'm glad I had the self-restraint to avoid watching it.

Not Bob (#113)

I feel strangely compelled to note that he looks like Jim Carrey as the Grinch in that picture.

Carry on.

rj77 (#210)

Heh – I thought he was Buster Poindexter at first.

IBentMyWookie (#133)

I can understand why he would log onto Twitter and plead for people to contact the police on his behalf instead of doing it himself. The phone number for the cops in Toronto is ridiculously hard to recall.
It's like 9-1-0? 9-1-2? Something like that.

Bittersweet (#765)

You may be giving P.H. credit for a bit too much intelligence there, IBMW.

missdelite (#625)

Trash strike on the hottest day of the year and now this.

Flashman (#418)

I guess that makes two trash strikes

BTW The Globe & Mail ("Canada's national newspaper") has this on their front page:

SeaBassTian (#281)

I am usually not inclined to visit his website but this 12 minute Crocodile Tears Blogger Manifesto has to be seen to be believed… He kind of reminds me of Grimace!

Appreciate the Gaitskill ref in the hed.

sigerson (#179)

Yes! I was just starting to re-read Bad Behavior but maybe I'll skip over it to "Two Girls".

BlinkyMcChuck (#202)

Wow. Perez's moment to fall came quickly and without warning.

BlinkyMcChuck (#202)

Or…did we warn him? Did you warn him? I didn't.
