We should just encourage the Republicans to reveal themselves for being the party of the prejudiced, racist, tax-avoiding, anti-government pigs that so many of them are. If it was part of a Democratic strategy, it's working. The one thing that will surely sway the way Sonia Sotomayor rules from the bench once she is a member of the Supreme Court is how she is currently being treated and regarded in the confirmation process. Latino and other smart voters will make their mark too- in the next election. So keep it up ...

BTW I came to Spain 20 years ago knowing not much Spanish, and I have to thank Barrio Sésamo for the best and cheapest Spanish lessons I could get at the time. I was 34 years old and had studied Latin, French and Italian. I would also like to thank the European multinational discount supermarket chain, Dia, for labeling all their products in French, Spanish, Italian, Portugese, and Greek. Cross-training in vocabulary. Bet Pat B. hyperventilates every time he hears the "para Español, pulse 2" option. If he can understand it....

Ya know, everyone in this country should speak AT LEAST two languages. Also, I don't get what the gripe is about her reading children's classics. I don't think it meant she didn't do the rest of the work IN ADDITION to boning up on her English. To be honest my English grammar and writing became much better after studying (okay taking just one additional year over the min) French.
