Persian For Beginners
Google now offers a Persian option on its Translate page to help you better keep up with the fast-moving events in Iran. I just tried it, and while it is somewhat rudimentary, it translated the first Twitter message I found—"متشکرم اندرو سالیوان برای عط سبز "Ùˆ وبلاگ شما—as "I was not going to protest until I saw that Andrew Sullivan turned his blog green in solidarity," which seems about right.

هواناو من از مارماهی کامل شده است.
That's Persian for "My hovercraft is full of eels."
آیا شما Ù…ÛŒ خواهید برای آمدن به Ù…ØÙ„ من ØŒ Ùنری Ùنری؟
HA!!
رایگان جدید سگ روز!
"Free hot dog day!"
من خندان را با صدای بلند
whoops, that was a reply to sorryyourheinous. It was an attempt at "lolz", but translates to something like "I laugh aloud with"
و ایران ، ایران تا دور
"And Iran, Iran so far away …"
(Ha ha, get it?)
I couldn't resist. I entered "Balk's Cock" and got Ø·Ùره رÙتن از 'sشیر.
But when I translated it back into English, it literally means "Balk's milk". Which has a kind of poetry to it, really.
