In Praise Of Drifting Off

It's always difficult to read an article about short attention spans, because you're even more aware of your attention drifting away while you're reading. Ignore that and try to stick with this piece from Discover which suggests that zoning out is actually good for you, if done in limited doses and at the appropriate time. I'm eagerly awaiting the new Malcolm Gladwell book Drift , in which he examines how successful people tend to tune out when superflous and incorrect information is thrown at them and instead come up with ideas on how to be successful. Unlike the rest of us who let our minds drift to images from the porn we watched last night while someone is trying to teach us the secret of life.
