How's Your Inbox?

by Balk posted @3:25 PM

Sooner, betterHey, did everyone get their newsletter this morning? Couple of folks complained yesterday that it hadn't come, which was also the case for me recently. (It went to Spam, which it so is not. Until Choire actually writes about spam next week.) Anyway, we haven't heard of any problems, but if you just now noticed that you didn't receive your early-morningish blast of happiness, let us know in the comments or drop us a line and we'll see what we can do to get you sorted out. Not yet a subscriber? Head right, to the section that says "Subscribe to the newsletter" and sign yourself up. You probably won't regret it that much. Thanks!

Yes, I got it. Does this mean you and Choire will be taking a bus ride to Miami soon?

Thank you for getting that song stuck in my head for the next couple hours.

Since I conduct my life on the west coast of this fair nation of ours–I wake up to yours and/or Choire's emails. It takes me a moment to shake off last nights crack run and focus enough to read the screen on my blackberry–but soon I am off to the crapper with a whole bunch of Awl in my head. Thank you gentlemens.

I'm trying to find a way to say that I hope Balk writes the newsletter sometimes but it's hard not to sound like a total creep (CREEP!) and also not seem to be implying that Choire hasn't doing a super job thus far, which he definitely has and I definitely am not.

Gah! It was caught in the spam filter! This does seem deeply ironic.

Today was the third day in a row I did not receive my daily ray of inbox sunshine and yet somehow I did not think to look in my spam box. I found them all (awl?), smushed in between viagra ads and "Sensation! Hollywood Virgins List!!!", and marked them "not spam", so I think I'm all set.

This sounds like an underwhelming endorsement and it's not meant to: TheAwl's morning communique is my favourite piece of mass-delivered email daily. Choire's tone is thoughtful, informed and those idiosyncratic bangs ("!") rock teh interwebs thingy.

At this juncture, just thought I'd chime in and say, when I type in "The Awl" as a Google search term, Google asks, to this day, "Do you mean The Owl?"

Worked fine once I found the spammed-up email and clicked the "Not Spam" doohickey. Stop opining for a Cialis scrip in every damn email!

    Denton took over Gmail.

5/5 here. got you spitting nickels.

I clicked the "This is not spam" button with great alacrity. So I hope Gmail knows what it did.
And that I am very disappointed in it.

I emailed Choire (AND OMG GOT THE CUTEST "I'M NOT ON EMAIL!!!" AUTO-REPLY!! PAPA!!!) already, but yes, my morning catpill went to spam yesterday and today.

    Fucking Cho.

  14. oudemia [#177]

Huh. Mine went to spam yesterday and the day before. Today's n'existe pas, though.

The subject line made me confused- but then, I don't have a cat.
