Roiphe, you might remember, is a little famous for a book about how college girls shouldn't let themselves get raped so much." I do remember that! Impossible as it sounds, this gets even better.
It has to be exhausting for her to go through her days seeing ALL of life's minutia through that prism. Just. Exhausting.
Katie Roiphe and Ayelet Waldman should connect, key party each other, then, of course, write books about it.
So what do we have here? Ultimately both sites are blaming the women, right?
Jesus Christ. Katie Roiphe is as useless and misdirected and desperate to be seen as "edgy" as Moe Whosywotsit (yes, I know she's a friend of Balk's, but whatevs, drunks make bad choices).
From Roiphe's article – "What if Facebook pages are only the beginning? What if next are passports and drivers’ licenses? What if suddenly the faces of a generation were to disappear, and in their places beaming toddlers?"
This is satire, right? It has to be.
What is so annoying about Katie Roiphe is her craving to lecture America on morality, while being wholly without any sort of gravitas. She constructed this spurious falsehood in her 20s during the Clinton era promoting the idea that she was somehow the country's expert on sexual morality. I remember thinking when I saw her on, say, Charlie Rose: It's okay, She's just wet behind the ears. She'll grow out of it.
But she hasn't. Holy shit: she hasn't!
I don't like it when women have pictures of their kids up but only because I want to ogle and objectify them. So, point to Benedikt?

I think it's funny when people have pictures either with or of their kids on their profiles that they use to trawl for sex online. Good luck with that folks. Though I don't have kids so it may work.
