It was a good read only because it's a pretty interesting story all around. You wouldn't be able to write like this about any trial or given subject. Still it's a good read, which I suppose is what's important.

Beg to disagree. The headline's duller than plywood. Part one, indeed. This is a murder trial and it's "terrible" because it brings people together?? Give me a break. I knew nothing about this murder or this trial before reading this, and I still only know very little about it, though I was treated to some jejune descriptions of how the father's looked. I have a feeling that if I did know all about this trial, the article would have been even more boring to read. The facts are way more interesting than Nat's desultory observations. She needs a hard editor to tell her like it is, not a pack of sycophants...

Nice hard boiled article. This story has always reminded me of the soul-sucking film Bully. I think Larry Clark would have handled the film Alpha Dog with a more appropriate amount of dread and despair.
