This evening sees the conclusion of Jay Leno's seventeen year stint as host of "The Tonight Show." Here's a tribute from early on in the funnyman's role at the helm by the late Bill Hicks. Great run, Jay!

Hicks was the last time Leno attempted anything bold on his little show of blah.
Wait, Hicks was saying Leno's road to suckdom *started* with the Doritos commercial and that Leno *used* to be funny? The peacock-gore and Satan-assfucking details notwithstanding, this clip is a little too kind.
Hicks was a comic genius. Just ask Dennis Leary - he stole all of Hicks' material.
Having left the US in 89, there are very things I missed and regret but this man is one of them. I heard of him, read about him, but in pre-internet life didn't see much of him. If he had lived just a few years longer, I think he would have been a major star.
That said, fuck it. He was brilliant, talented, affected and taught a LOT of people...and is missed...and for a young life, I think that's OK.
thank you for that. if i were in possession of some medium with which to share this audio with friends, lovers, and fellow claymates, i would certainly have done so. but the awl to the rescawl! thank you mille!
also i think the jacking off/pro-life bit is a better passage in 'rant,' but, alas, it lacks a timely peg.
Another attorney in my firm was named Bill Hicks and I spent four solid years hoping he'd say something funny, but nah. Nothing. Four years. Just until he got fired for shitting on a paralegal's desk and leaving a three-inch stack of porn printed out on the hallway printer.
