Hulu Is Largely Unnavigable Anyway

What does yesterday's announcement that Disney would become a full equity partner in Hulu mean for CBS, which is now the only major network not to stream its shows on the video portal? Nothing: Old people don't watch TV on the computer.

For that matter, neither do many young people. And also, Hulu is screwed long-term because it foots all the heavy video hosting bills while the content owners take fat slices of revenue. But it means nothing for CBS? Hah. TV.com is sunk.

Would someone explain why Hulu isn't available outside the US?

My understanding is that they don't have the international distribution rights for a lot of their content so they can't be streaming it all over the internet.

This is the single worst thing about my life. Well, this, the weather, the fucking foreigners, and the watchamabacon plague. It's a tie.

"Old people don’t watch TV on the computer."

Not so, I wouldn't say.

Just an anecdotal observation from the hinterlands (the extreme suburban wasteland east of Los Angeles); there the only people who use Hulu, talk constantly about Hulu and actually use Hulu are old people. They are tired of watching Modern Marvels and assorted crap all morning before the Law and Order reruns kick in so they love this thing.

I think that Disney knows that and that you don't realize that these olds all have computers that they previously just used for smiley face encrusted emails and marathon solitaire games. Seriously.
