Blacktalk, With Barack Obama

Why does Barack Obama talk black better than GOP Chair Michael Steele, even though both men are black? Obama better able to imitate a black person. Or, um, something like that; the whole discussion feels like a topic I shouldn't be allowed to talk about.

As a white person, my only thought is: where did Choire go? Are you going to bring back Weather on the 1s or just collapse at the computer trying to crank out twenty posts today?

Michael Steele is a "locker room towel-snapping sort of personality"? I had no idea.

i'm going to take a wild guess and venture: because obama has actually spoken to black people before.

I feel like a racist just for reading that post.

As a registered black person from Da 'Hood I have to agree with johnny_virtue regarding Michael Steele. He's the dude whose mother never let him play with the other neighborhood kids because they were "too ghetto" for her precious son to associate with. I know parents like this and their kids tend to grow up to become black radicals or buppies who work overtime to be down...but only in certain company, as required.

And his sister rebelled by marrying Mike Tyson. That's every suburban buppie nightmare: Tyson's face-tatoo staring back at you from across the Thanksgiving table.

Ha! Seriously.

he's the carlton to obama's fresh prince. obama only SEEMS blacker by comparison.
