Two Years Of 'The Atlantic' For $20

Signs of the recession:

While their website may be offering ten issues for $24.50, in yesterday's mail came a two year subscription offer to The Atlantic for twenty dollars. Disturbing! The magazine adjusted its rate base to 450,000 in January, and would presumably desire to keep selling ads based on that number.

The 100.00 per night deal on a hotel in NYC, though, has gone away from discount travel sites, for now at least, and the low price is now around 170.

That was the first most exciting thing (for some of us) after the crisis began.

I offer a $60/night futon special. It comes with continental cheerios and one towel.

And will you read aloud to me at night from a selection of Gawker comments?

In fairness, I hear it is one hell of a nice towel.

With my subscription they offered to have Andrew Sullivan read each issue to me in person while giving me a foot massage.

.. And have Michael Hirschorn explain in person how he reconciles his unquestionable Nabokovian genius with that whole once-worked-at-VH1 thingie while feeding you bon-bons.
