Hyperlocal news you can use about farecards! We really are a wide-ranging website.

ATTN New Yorkers: "Subway and bus riders who buy unlimited-ride MetroCards before fares go up on May 31 must use them by June 8 to receive the full present value of the cards." Of course that assumes the state legislature won't come up with a plan to bail out the MTA and make fare hikes unnecessary. And we all know there's no way they'd fail to do that, right? Right? Where are you going?

"We can't figure out our own budget, but we sure have figured out a way to keep you from hoarding Metrocards!" Bastards.

My Number Is My Address

When are they going to make the NYPD fund themselves? FDNY? DoE? A transportation system is as important to the life and prosperity of a city as anything else. That it should be asked to fund itself is absurd.

Balk, here’s our moneymaker:

I call it Metro default swaps. We contract with riders to sell post July 8 single trip credits for $2.40/per. If the bailout fails and price rises to $2.50, we lose. However if MTA gets funding (you know it will!!) and prices rise to only $2.20 we make a killing on the .20 differential.
I’ve run this by Jake DeSantis and he agrees that it’s a can’t miss deal.
