This hedgie is hard-pressed to find a scenario in which I would want Hedge Funds as the "model firms of the future." Not without substantial changes to the way they do business and operate in the regulatory sense. Some people idealize the world presented by Mad Max : Beyond Thunderdome and I guess they write for Newsweek but that's still pretty insane.
